this is a good topic, and i aggree with on the two points you referred above. i'd like to share some additional ideas on PM to Vehicle Developmet. 1st, Program Manager shall get involved in the phase of project initiation and offer holistic professional input to Company Leadership, this could protect and ensure DOING THE RIGHT THING first, which may include but not limited to strive for a realistic milestone on schdule. and have a clear mind on WHAT ARE YOU REALLY GONNA DO. 2nd.PM shall take some administrative jobs to his or her team, such as an authority to staff evaluation or ratings, otherwise it's hard for you to be treated as a LEADER to a program. 3rd. To supplier, PM shall bear in mind that Supplier is a KEY team member, you need to make them realize the benifits and respects of working for you.
4Tth, the last and the most important thing is TO TOP MANAGEMENT. A PM shall have a capbility to facilate decision from TOP DOGS instead of waiting and worrying delay that is due to IN APPROVING. such as the following tatics. "if we dont' do..xxx.. it will cost us..xxx" "Customer willl do..XXX.. if we dont do.xxx "
